Roel Burgers completed a study on ‘Transnational Ecosystem based water management’ at the University of Duisburg-Essen and then worked for an consultant and a municipality in Norway in the field of hydrology, GIS and dredging. He has been working for Rijkswaterstaat since 2016. Since 2017 he has been involved in projects in the field of water distribution in the Dutch river systems, salt water intrusion (also as a member of the PIANC working group salt water intrusion) and the 2018 drought.
Roel Burgers has been working in the operational water department of Rijkswaterstaat since 2020 as CHR Secretary and information coordinator for low and high water events.

Harald Köthe, born on May 16, 1961 in Karlsruhe, completed his studies in geology at the University of Bonn in 1988 with a diploma thesis in southern Morocco. His subsequent professional career initially led him to the Federal Institute for Hydrology (BfG), where he was mainly concerned with hydrogeological tasks, the development of fundamentals and reports on the environmental compatibility of hydraulic engineering measures as well as sediment and dredged material management on federal waterways in various organizational units. In 2004 he moved to the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, where he worked in various roles, but mainly for tasks in hydrology, climate adaptation and environmental protection as deputy head of department with technical supervisory responsibilities for the BfG and the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV).
